Burke is considered a safe area. While we ended up buying in Fairfax (near Burke), we also focused our search in Burke and West Springfield initially. You won't go wrong with either area. One part of Burke I really liked was Cherry Run.

For rentals, check out: MilitarybyOwner.com - Real Estate near U.S. Military Bases or HomesDatabase - Home for Sale and Rent in DC, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania . You may also find something in Craig's list. GL

We've lived in Burke three different times and love it! We just moved from Burke Station Square. That was by far the best Burke neighborhood we have ever lived in. It's a fantastic community. The neighbors are friendly. There are tons of kids. The schools are great! We loved all the activities at the pool. All roads lead back to the D.C. area for us over and over again. When we move back, Burke Station Square will be our first choice.

Military by Owner would be your best bet. There are lots of military and government in that neighborhood because of the Pentagon Express and the VRE. But rentals go fast! If you find a house that you like, don't waste time. Take it immediately.
