Hi all! Just wondering if anyone could reccomend someplace to take a day trip to a beach within a few hours of NoVA. We aren't going on our annual beach trip this year but would still like to take my boys for a day by the shore. Thanks!

All the beaches are about the same distance depending where you are in NoVA:

Virginia Beach
Ocean City, MD
Fenwick Island, DE
Bethany
Rehoboth

It will take approximately 3.5 hours for each beach.

You can get to some "bay" beaches a lot quicker, but I can't vouch for any of them since I do not like hanging out at the bay (unless I'm boating).

In my experience, Cape Henlopen State Park, in Delaware just north of Rehoboth, is the easiest to get to.

There's another state park just north of Fenwick (between Fenwick and Bethany) that is very easy to get to and is great for day trips. Can't think of the name though.

If you can do it on a mid-week day rather than a weekend you'll have a lot more time to enjoy it since you won't be dealing with weekend beach traffic.

Fenwick Island State Park.

There's also Delaware Seashore State Park which is between Dewey and Bethany.

just make sure you wear some snug briefs, If you wear baggy shorts with all those beautiful young ladies walking around the beach wearing tiny little bikinis, well, let's just say things will arise quite visibly
