We all know traffic can be a real bear in northern Virginia.

Sometimes it leaves you feeling:

Sometimes it leaves you feeling:

And every once in awhile you don't hit much traffic at all, and then you're feeling:

So, here's a thread just for venting about your commute (or, for you lucky ones, to brag). It'll make you feel better, and it might help the rest of us to know which roads to avoid.

Be sure to note things like what roads you take, how far you drive, and what time of day you drive. And if your commute was unusual today or the typical jam you usually face.

Bonus points for anyone who can make a joke starting with:

"My commute was sooooooo bad today (how bad was it)......"

Mine was actually excellent. I had a dr's appointment this morning, so I didn't have to drive to work until 10 am!

LOL, funny you should say that CaliTerp. I almost didn't reply to this thread because I had a pretty easy commute today too. Theonly problem I had was around 9:30 when I had to drive to a meeting in Fair Lakes. The turn from Fairfax County Parkway to Fair Lakes was backed up. One of these days I'm going to remember to turn on Monument, instead, and avoid that.

I have lived in Fair Oaks area for 2 years now and I JUST discovered "Fair Lakes Circle" a few months ago that saves tons of time avoiding the 7100 and Fair Lakes intercection. But if you are coming from 7100 though, it depends on where you are going to take a shortcut. Getting off at 50 then going through the mall to get to where you are going might be fastest.

So nobody had a bad commute today? Wow, that's got to be a first! (Or, is it just that they'd love to tell us about it, but they're all still stuck in traffic? )

Commute was great going to work and coming home too!

I left for work at 4:30am and arrived at 4:56am, then left work at 4:45pm and arrived home at 5:16pm.

Traveling from Haymarket (26 minutes) to Falls Church and back (31 minutes) WooHoo!

A truly bizarre day on Metro's Orange Line. Air conditioning worked, escalators worked, farecard gates worked. Well, even Metro can have an off day!

Afraid my trip home was horrible. Accident on the Toll Road at Wolf Trap heading west made for a standstill. Usually 20 min took hour fifteen....

well my dog almost tripped me at the bottom of the stairs but I'd say I made my commute to work in oh about...30 seconds?

I did hit traffic on route 15 headed out this evening between Aldie and Haymarket...anyone else hit that? BAD looking accident...at around 3:15 PM
