This may seem like a silly question, but i don't know how it works. We bought a Motorcycle for commuting a month ago, and have since found that it just isn't practical and we would be better off just paying the metro parking fee and using a car. The roads are just to bad in this area and the rain and heavy traffic on the beltway roads make it a nail biting ride!

We are going to buy a second car instead. We just paid for a 2 year registration on the bike. Can this be transferred to the car (using different tags), will we get a credit or has it just been a waste of money?

I have looked on the DMV website but i can't seem to find anything regarding turning in tags early.

All input is appreciated.

motorcycles around here are mainly just toys for weekend duty, not daily commuting. Believe me, I been stuck on 66 in rush hour traffic on my bike and man, with my leathers on and start-stop traffic, I don't know which is more uncomfortable, the heat, or my left wrist from squeezing the clutch in and out over and over again

When you turn in your motorcycle tags, you will get a refund on the unused portion of your registration. I doubt there will be any "transfer" of funds. You will have to pay for your car tags/registration and will received a refund on the turn-in of the motorcycle stuff. Could be that the DMV desk agent can do it all at one time--not sure.

That sounds the most logical to me. Why did the OP get 2 yrs. when it was an experimental thing? To the OP: you really have to ask the DMV because it's so bizarre.
