Default Moving to Area to Work in Quantico - Need to Rent With 3 Dogs

My husband and I are moving to the area in October - not sure where we will land yet but will be there in September to look around. We currently own a home in Kentucky and need to sell it before we consider buying. We are considering Fredericksburg/Spotsy and Stafford areas. We would like to sign a lease when we visit in September BUT we have three dogs - a lab (80 lbs), beagle (30 lb) and parson russell (14 lb). The apartments I have called so far do not accept that many pets or the pound limit exceeds capacity. Since getting rid of our dogs is not an option, does anyone have suggestions?

Our ideal situation would be a rental townhome or home with a fenced in yard and garage. We're willing to spend somewhere between $1,000 and $1,500/month.

Any wisdom will be appreciated!

Thank you.

I would suggest looking for a home for rent through a private owner listed on the local MLS.

Thank you.

I love you for saying this. Too many people will ditch their animals at the drop of a hat. Carry on, didn't mean to derail the thread

Try HomesDatabase - Home for Sale and Rent in DC, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania, there are many homes for rent in the Fredericksburg area in your price range. The listing information will tell you if pets are allowed.

I have heard Fredericksburg is a wonderful area but what is the commute to Quantico like? Some are saying it's no big deal but some are saying I95 is getting worse and worse. Right now my husband drives 30 minutes to work every morning during the off-hours. Not sure what gate he will go in but will be working at academy.

There are a LOT of people living in Fredericksburg and commuting up toward DC. So, Fredericksburg to Quantico is a heavy stretch up I-95. I live in Woodbridge which is 30 miles north of Fredericksburg. With absolutely NO traffic (which never happens) it's going to be a 30 minute commute. Depending on the time your husband goes to Quantico, it could be a 30-45 ride easily. The Fredericksburg commuters tend to be an "early" bunch so having later hours might work. Trying to get to Quantico around 7:30 or 8:00 a.m. is probably going to congested.

Try to look around in the Dumfries or Stafford area. Dumfries would give you a reverse commute. Stafford would put you 1-2 exits south of Quantico.
