It was a 50-car pile up in Williamsburg. Several hours south of here, down in the land of old money, dontcha know.

(So maybe it was caused by too many people rolling down the windows to say "pahdon me do you have any Grey Poupon")

I can remember when traffic in DC was totally screwed up because one old guy drove his tractor into the reflecting pool

Every time I hear that there's a "sun delay", I think -- hello, you commute towards the sun every day, get some sunglasses already.

More complaints: Why is the speed limit on Macarthur 25 mph? I can BIKE faster than that and why is there a speed trap on one tiny section thats not even in the residential area?

I don't know if drivers in this area are the worst, but they definitely act more distracted than drivers any place else I have been. A lot of people seem to have no awareness of where the other cars are around them are, what road they are on, or the traffic patterns or signals.

The other problem is the mix of hyper aggressive drivers, slow moving passive drivers, lost and clueless drivers, and totally distracted drivers who have no idea of the speed limit, lane markers etc who will swerve across four lanes of traffic with no signal as if there are no other cars on the road when they realize they are about to miss their turn...

In Boston, for example, at least you can expect all the other drivers are going to be super aggressive, and at least they are situationally aware. Here, you just never know what they're going to do.
