Does anybody know why cops are pulling cars over just before the ramp starts onto the dulles toll road? The toll road isn't HOV is it?

If I may also "piggyback" onto this thread, does anyone know why cops have been sitting along the shoulder of Route 7 Eastbound between Reston and McLean during the morning commute when it is barely moving to begin with? Are they hoping to catch that "leadfoot" doing 15 miles per hour? It's so refreshing to know Fairfax County has ZERO crime worth patroling residential neighborhoods for to enable cops to just sit, parked, dozing off.

I wondered that myself over the past few months. Two days ago I saw a cop stopped there and standing facing the southboud FFX parkway lane looking through a small spyglass of some kind. I bet he was checking registration and inspection stickers, and maybe county decals (if they're still using them in ffx --they aren't in PW). I know they used to do this as you were coming off the wb toll road and onto rt 28 south (I got stopped once for an expired county decal).

I hope they're not starting to check for texting/emailing, or I might get in trouble someday.

A few weeks ago i was traveling down FFX pwky south from Reston around 5ish or so in the afternoon. The police were there. From what I can tell is they are pulling people over for riding the shoulder a good distance before the lane to make a right turn onto the ramp to Dulles toll road west. One guy who was in front of us, didnt want to wait and sure enough they yanked him over on the ramp. just an idea from what I saw though

The news did say, recently, that they were going to be watching for that more.

It's NoVA law enforcement cracking down on distracted drivers. There was an article in the news last week about it. No eating, texting, putting on makeup, getting dressed (!), etc. while driving a vehicle. Sounds good!

I actually did a search to find this thread to realize someone posted a similar thread about 4 months ago. I think it is due to the fact that people are changing lanes too early to get off the ramp before the lines allow it.

Also, I've definitely heard about the ffx cops cracking down on distracted drivers. I like eating my bacon and cheese wrap while I'm driving...
