As a side thread to the "Walkable Neighborhood" thread, I wonder how many of us walk during our lunch hours? If so, where do you like to go?

I used to have an office in Herndon, and during lunch I liked to walk through a little arboretum near Sunrise Valley and Centreville. Sometime I would meet a friend over at AT&T park and we'd walk around in there a little.

What places do you guys like to go to during lunch hour?

I just walk around our office complex. There's a huge lake and a lot of woods around so there is always some fauna running around. A couple weeks one of the maintenance folks found a 4 foot snapping turtle at the lake. We've also had black bears and a mountain lion reported at our facility.

When I worked in downtown NW DC we used to walk around the Old Executive Mansion and the White House. It was interesting to see, on occasion, the Secret Service arriving with their entourage.

I used to also walk through the underground tunnels that link the fed buildings.

And I'd walk south to the Office of the Americas Museum (near Constitution Hall and 1 blk from the Ellipse). There is a fabulous tiled patio/courtyard, a giant fountain/pool in the back of the Museum, and fruit trees.

I work in Tysons Corner. There aren't very many scenic walking paths that I'm aware of. If I want to walk, or people watch, I go to the mall on my lunch break.

I work next to a mall too but Fair Oaks instead of Tysons. Yep I practically live at the mall. I always get jokes from my boss about my constant burger king and chic fil a diet. I've accepted that I'm just gonna go broke. But working at a mall is convenient. I had a huge presentation and had forgotten my belt (spent the night at a friendly friend's house) so it was nice being to walk over to JCPenney during my lunch break and get a belt. Even got it 50% off because someone had put up the the wrong sales sign.

But yes I love to walk on my lunch break. I rarely if ever just stay in my building. I usually walk to Fair Oaks mall or to the Barnes and Noble just a block away. I love walking for lunch its good to stretch your legs.

I used to love walking around Ballston during my short lunch and hung out inside Ballston Common often. I caught some flak for liking Ballston Mall so much. I usually had to tell people I lived next to Landmark Mall and Ballston unlike Landmark actually has a pulse.

Yeah. I also work in Tysons Corner (as do several others on this forum). On occasion I love to whip out my parasol and go frolicking up and down the beautiful Route 7 Corridor where I like to watch the construction crews work and see Crystal Koons!

Right now I usually work part-time so I don't take lunch breaks very often. My husband works near Reston Town Center and likes to walk around there. Near where he works is the Sallie Mae campus, and that looks like an incredible place to take a walk. Does anyone happen to know if it's open to the public?

This sounds really great. Oh, to be able to leave and take a walk during lunch! I'm jealous!
