Where exactly is your office on 18th St and which metro stop is closest, Farragut West, Foggy Bottom, etc.? Are you planning to use the CUE Bus?

Also, where on George Mason? North GM near Arlington Hospital, or S GM near Bailey's Crossroads?

Well if you are going to be taking public transportation the whole way I recommend going to www.wmata.com and using their trip planner. If you are driving the whole way, I recommend giving yourself about 90 min. for the commute, traffic is pretty thick at the time you are trying to get in the city. If you are driving to Vienna Metro and then taking the train, shoot to give yourself about 30 min. for your train ride.

George Mason University? Or George Mason Drive?

If the former, there is a 17G bus that runs from GMU down Braddock Road to the Pentagon: 743am arr. Pentagon at 833am. Should be plenty of time to catch the Blue Line to 18th.

Also, there is the Cue Bus - which is free to students - and that will take you to Vienna Metro. Orange Line to 18th, you're in. Probably 60 minutes total if you time the Cue Bus right.

I second this suggestion. By taking the CUE bus you won't have to worry about parking. The orange line is a straight shot to Farragut West. Try 1.5 hrs for your first day and estimate how long it takes. Remember that everything slows (buses, etc.) if it rains or snows. Also, even if you do arrive a little early at Farragut West, there's a bakery (and an entire food court) in the bldg at Farargut West; easy enough to grab some coffee and a croissant before heading to the office. Good luck at the new job!
