Recently, there have been two pretty big items reported by the media outlets. The first is that foreclosures were halted in many parts of the US. They second is that the US State Department issued a travel advisory on Americans travelling to Europe.

Both of these items seem extremely suspicious to me. As far as halting foreclosure, I think the banks are bursting at the seems with homes and just can't absorb anymore right now. It was a good excuse to limit their extremey arge inventories that would just drive sell prices down further, especiay in places ike LV, Phoenix, and South Florida.

As far as travel warnings...Doesn't it seem suspicious that they waited until the lowest part of the tourist' season to issue the warning? Are they just to much in bed with the seemingly nationalized airine industry to do this June 1, instead of October 1? I'm in SE Asia right now and I kind of got a chuckle out of the warning. Don't get me wrong, there ARE plots against the West and there have been for decades. To me it's been bright red since 9-11. I think the State Department has lost even more credibility on this one.

There are soldiers with rifles at strategic points in Bangkok, 22nd largest city on the planet. I've never felt safer walking any large city streets. Maybe it's something they shoud consider in DC, Detroit, Chicago, etc...

I'm posting this in the NoVa forum, because I know there are many travellers to Europe, and there are lots of educated people, not just the sheeple of many other cities. What are your thoughts on these items?

I'm not a NOVAN...but I guess I would qualify to answer on the other terms...

Travel Warnings through the State Department have always been a joke. I've been outside of the country well before 9-11...and spent a lot of time in 'unsafe' parts of the world...well, unsafe according to the US State Department. Safe in pretty much every other category.

I always wished the US State Department would write up blurbs for American cities. The US highly advises foreign travelers to avoid the United States America, because...then insert 30 pages on all the many major drug epidemics, the high murder rates, gun and drug-related violence statistics, etc.

The foreclosure crisis is a completely different kettle of fish. No doubt our economy was propped up since 9-11 almost entirely on the back of bad loans and individuals flipping properties, developers developing, construction workers constructors, and everyone profiting. Highly unsustainable though when the core critical issue was the fact the US simply isn't producing to the degree it use to, and importing everything instead. Building more houses and giving out bad loans spiraling their prices ever upwards doesn't solve that.

I think since so many people were screwed....the US government is simply trying to prevent everything going down to its true true true value.

My thought is this really doesn't belong in the Nova forum.

How many people fly from IAD to Europe every day? 5000? 10,000? I detect the leftists feeling uncomfortable about possibly criticizing the Czarist Government in DC. One thing that is quite clear, the butte whipping the Left is going to get in November.
