Hi all, it has officially been over a year since we moved to NoVA and we still need tons of furniture. I hate the idea of spending $1000+ for a basic entry table like at Ethan Allen, but do like classic, good quality furniture. I like Pottery Barn etc but don't want to have to put anything together. I'm fine with stuff that is a little banged up since it is likely be get more banged up in my house. Are there are any furniture outlets or off price places anywhere within an hours drive of the NoVA area?

Stanis furniture on Willard Road is going out of business and advertising 70% off prices. Maybe you can find a few good deals there. Also, there's a store near there called Treasures of Time that has some amazing pieces of furniture. Too antique for my tastes, but it's a fun store to browse through and (sometimes, not always) you can find a bargain there. Only sometimes, though--other times it's very pricey.

I like the Pottery Barn, Crate and Barrel and Restoration Hardware outlets in Leesburg Outlet mall. Also, Home Goods is pretty awesome, especially for small things like entry tables and side chairs, and there are lots of them everywhere.

Have you tried auctions? I remember seeing a sign for a furniture auction in our area but sadly I don't remember the website info. Maybe you can search engine it.

There is a place called Cort Furniture that sells off-lease business furniture, often times they have tables and couches from lounges and stuff. They've got listings on craigslist all the time.

I've never been there myself, so I'm not sure what sort of selection they actually offer, but my old roommate bought most of her furniture there and said they had a decent variety. I dont know if it's high quality, but most businesses have decent stuff that isn't heavily used, and it could be worth a shot.

Belfort has a clearance center that has some pretty good deals. Nothing fancy, but some OK things for good prices.

I scour craigslist and stick to areas I'm willing to drive to, I check the consignment shops near my house (Haymarket/Gainesville) and go to two antique shops in Manassas. I found a fabulous table at a store in The Plains.

Guess it depends on how patient you are.

I have been to Cort a couple of times in Chantilly and frankly don't think the trip was worth it.

I do check Craigslist and love finding deals there but just haven't found anything great. I have a distaste for "cheap" furniture, things that you have to put together etc. I did get a nice entertainment center from Belfort that I like, so I know I need to go there again...and yes I spent about 3 hours in their outlet center but didn't end up buying. Any other used furniture store sources? There's the one in Leesburg that I love, but would love to hear about others. I guess i'm looking for the "perfect" item and it's taking a long time...

Have you gone to Greenfront yet? I remember people being excited about it when it opened, but I've never personally checked it out.

I'm not sure if this is helpful, but FWIW here are furniture threads we've had in the past.
