I'm just trying to get a picture of where the crowd is going.....

I have heard of a handful of cases at my apartment complex in the fair lakes area where a few 2-BRs got hit with $200 or so rent increases.

I've also heard a case of this where a couple was hit with a $200 rent increase two times and they were right in DC.

My rent increase for a 1-BR this year went from $1067 to $1121 ($54 increase), so it isn't bad....maybe because of less demand for 1-BRs vs 2+ BRs?? I got this apartment in September of 2009.

Another question, does an excellent credit score have any effect on rent increases?

It's pretty common, especially if they're entering their second year of renting and there was a discount on the first year.
