Default Manassas neighborhood around grant & Stonewall

Whats going on in the Manassas neighborhood around grant & Stonewall?
We just shifted our house hunt to that area due to a new job location and proximity to the VRE.
We lived out that way a few years ago and had to move in closer due to the hated commute, so its ironic that we are looking back in this direction again.
I know Manassas has its fair share of problems, but the neighborhood just north of old town Manassas looks quite nice and stately. I talking about the neighborhood around grant & Stonewall.
Prices here are relatively affordable, but I know appearances can be deceiving.
Is this a stable area?
Is it quiet, and boring? (quiet and boring are good qualities for a neighborhood in my opinion).
Are there people roaming or walking around after dark?
We don't have school age kids, so schools are not a big consideration other than the normal resale aspect.
If you live here, How do you like it?

Are you talking about Sudley and Stonewall? Near the post office? If so, nice quiet neighborhood.

It used to be nice. Now the townhouses are infested with gang members. The single family homes aren't much better. I used to drive a school bus through that precise area. It's not that close to Old Town. The apartments on Diggs Rd. are some of the worst in NoVa for a lot of things. The Georgian Hamlet THs are quite hideous, as well. My parents are happy in Wellington, and you could get a home in there for the mid 200s. Manassas Mall? Nasty. Prince William Hospital? I hope you don't have to go there.

I believe you are confusing Stonewall with another road. I don't believe Stonewall intersects anywhere with Grant. Stonewall intersects with Sudley (234) Nokesville Rd (28) and dead ends at Jackson.

What's wrong with PW hospital? We have had to use their ER twice, both times we were very happy with the service they gave us.

It had a less than stellar rep years a go but it's made great strides over the years. It has a good rep now. Not sure where he/she is getting their info from.

Sudley becomes Grant about a half mile down the road. The rehabilitation center smelled like urine and buses Africans in from DC to work there. The illegals use the Emergency room as their free clinic. I don't have the precise numbers but a large majority of births are to welfare mothers.

Sorry for the confusion. What I mean is Stonewall and Grant run roughly parallel to each other. North of Center and south of sudley, and it is that neighborhood area I am interested in.

Sounds like a blighted and crime filled area.
Not the impression I get when driving through the area.
How recent are your experiences?
Diggs road looks close to the neighborhood I was looking in.
How can I tell if a house or neighborhood is infested by gang members? (serious question).
The reason I'm surprised is because the neighborhood behind of or south of the hospital looked respectable, quiet, mildly affluent, sleepy.
Not like the gang riddled hellhole you describe.

Is wellington a neighborhood? Where is it located? On Wellington Rd somewhere?
