So I was at work tracking my fedex package which was delivered at 9:40AM only to leave work early and get home at 1:00PM to see no package in sight! Now I do have some "choice" neighbors across the hall who have opened my package before and then brought it back to me the next day claiming it was an "accident", but I asked them and they hadn't seen my package. So I call FEDEX and they explain to me that they will send the driver back out and make sure he sent it to the right place. Now please tell me this, if I do not receive my package (which I'm sure I won't) will I get a refund or whatever I ordered or am I just eating it? The tracking info said they "left it at the front door, no signature required".

Who did you order from? A lot of times they are going to be the ones that need to get you a new package, or a refund. FedEx may or may not be helpful, depending on who you deal with.

My wife recently had a "lost" package, which ended up on a nearby street with the same house number. Before we found the package (FedEx never figured it out), my wife explained the situation to the online vendor, and we were sent another item free. I was unhappy with what I thought would be overnight delivery of a document package that was not delivered overnight. In brief, the clerk that prepared my package did not explain delivery policy about my destination, nor did I get consistent explanations from three different reps at FedEx's 800 number. If I have a choice, I will not use FedEx again. File a loss claim with FedEx's using its 800 number or website. Also, try to call the vendor to see if a replacement might be sent free of charge.

Usually the vendor will resend the item free of charge. I once had a package "stolen" from the FedEx truck (hypoallergenic baby formula, if you can believe that). The vendor gave me the option of replacement or refund.

I would contact the police as well. We had a terrible problem with package theft in my neighborhood. Thanks to an alert delivery man and the police, they caught the neighbor who was stealing our packages!

I had the same thing happen to me but with Overstock.com. I contacted fedex and they swore they dropped it off, however I was home the whole time that they claimed to have dropped it off. From there I had to contact Overstock.com. Through Overstock.com, they made me fill out a complaint just stating the issue and they issued a refund or would send a new package--my choice. Fedex ended up dropping off the package on my apartment door mat a few days later with no explanation. My suggestion-cover your bases and contact both companies and see what they would like you do--good news is that since Walmart is a large company you should get a refund. Good luck!

If the package can not be located by the FedEx driver, you can file a claim with them.

As the recipient of the package, you can file the claim. However, they won't honor it if Walmart has filed their claim first.

You could call Walmart and let them know. Maybe they will send you a replacement without any hassle.

I used to work with an internet retailer and we shipped everything. My title was Damage/Lost Claims Specialist...so I know all about this hooey.

You can file the claim online: http://www.fedex.com/us/pckgenvlp/fcl/manage/fco/

or fill out a claim form and fax it in:

I would also suggest attaching a copy of the invoice or receipt. This will eliminate them sending you a letter and requesting that you send it (they will do anything to delay having to pay the claim).

I sent something FedEx (to a university) on a holiday (although the university was open). I paid the extra $ for the Overnight Svc vs the 1-3 day one. FedEx said it would be no problem, even if it was a holiday. And I specifically wrote the exact building and dept on the label so it wouldn't go to the main mailroom. well, they never delivered the package even though I had people at the university waiting for it. FedEx just kept saying "Undeliverable." I think the lazy bum just figured no one was around and bypassed the drop. The dispatcher at FedEx could only say they'd "contact the driver" but nothing ever happened. the package was delivered the day after. If I had to send something today I would use someone else.
