If Northern Virginia is southern, I expect it to be warmer than 7 degrees! Ugh!

My relatives back home in Vermont think that I am now a southerner....and 'cityfied' as well! Apparently my little brother was reading about the weather down here and called me last night saying that they were about -15 and that their high was right around 0. Haha - I guess it's all relative.

This weekend and this weekend only I'm claiming I live in a southern state. But that's just because I enjoy talking about how it snowed in October in a southern state.

I agree that Northern Virginia used to be more Southern than it is now, but the 90's? I think you need to go back a lot further to say that almost everyone in Northern Virginia had a Southern accent. Maybe in Prince William or Stafford, but not in Fairfax!

Not sure why this thread was revived but I think it's a middle ground - I moved here in the 80's and irregardless to the poster who said everyone in the 90's had a southern accent I disagree. This area really is a middle ground - folks from the North, South, other countries.......

I totally agree. I moved to DC in 1989. I don't recall hearing anyone with a southern accent.
