Default My house got egged last night in Kingstowne

Last night as I was watching the UConn vs Oklahoma game, I heard my door bell ring. As soon as I was going to go downstairs to check on it, I heard an object hit my window on the 2nd floor, where my living room is. When I went to look, the guy who did it is nowhere to be seen.

This morning I took a look around, it appeared that no one else in my group of townhomes got egged except mine, and it was only one single egg, so I'm guessing it's not some kind of revenge and just some kid being bad. Besides, my wife and I just moved in a month ago and I doubt we made enemies already! We keep a pretty low profile.

So today I submitted a police report online, although I doubt anything would be done except there would be a record on file, in case this happens again. And now I'm thinking about whether to get a security system, or at the very least, get a security camera of some sort.

Has this happen to you? Any advice? Thanks in advance.

I bought a security camera package at Costco and am in the process of installing it. Seems pretty straight forward (hardest part is running the wire). Thankfully I don't have any security issue but like the idea of being able to record all events just in case. Also get tired of people not picking after their dogs on the sidewalk!

Bored kid(s). When I grew up in the nearby area, TP'ing and, to a lesser extent, egging, were popular pastimes for some kids.

I wouldn't be too concerned. Probably mischievous kids. My elderly widowed next door neighbor had the same thing happen to her a year or so ago. She does nothing to upset anyone. It didn't happen again. Coincidentally, I was in a McDonald's about two weeks ago when a UPS driver came in and accused two teenagers of egging his truck. They immediately started running away but stopped when the driver threatened to call the police. There was some high volume discussion going on between the parties about the incident as a departed the premises. I raise these because they appeared to be a random act of vandalism. Yours hopefully was, too, and won't be repeated.

Thanks for the replies. I do feel a bit better about this now. I hope nothing else will happen in the future. We like the area a lot but imagine our surprise this morning when we saw the window

Pretty sad commentary on youths.... nothing better to do than throw eggs? Not to go off on a tangent, but where are the parents, what values were these kids raised with? Far as I know, it's not happened here, but I would be P***ed, since when is this typical?

In the olden days, when I was a kid...the houses of HOT girls were the ones that got TPed. It was a high honor to be TPed...and the better the "job", the higher the honor!

My sister was absolutely thrilled when our house got hit. I think it was the high point of her adolescence.

Yup, that's how it was in Arlington back in the 70s. We got tp'd not once but twice. I felt so honored!

Hmmm? You have no enemies or disgruntled ex-spouses or ex's as culprits ? Have you parked in a space that isn't yours or hogging one up? Did someone greet you and you sneered back? Doesn't someone at work hate your guts? Did you yell at some neighborhood kids for skateboarding on your sidewalk, screaming, throwing trash on your lawn, or not stopping a dog from peeing on your sidewalk?

It's probably kids as others have mentioned. If it keeps up, get a security camera and nail them for vandalism.

Since your new in your neighborhood get to know the neighbors, greet them and even mention what happened. At least others will know you're aware of what's happening and keeping an eye out on things.
