We had SunRocket before they went under (4+ years ago) and I thought it worked great--had no problems. I've considered Magicjack, but somewhat reluctant as the downside is you can't port your number but also read some really negative reviews.

I'm really looking to save money on my phone bill and find that I still need a home phone. Would you please offer your input if you have voip phone, please? Thank you.

Look up Ooma Telo. It's an upfront device cost and then you just play government taxes - no other monthly fees. I really like it.

Have you tried Google Voice? It's a free service from Google where you can make phone calls from your computer. All you need is a PC with microphone/speakers. I use it all the time to call my Sister. I don't have long distance on my home phone so I use a cell phone since it's free long distance already with my plan, or Google voice. It also does international calls but you have to pay for that feature.

We have MagicJack for a second phone line and have been quite pleased with it. We've had it for over a year. It's so darn cheap that you can't really go wrong.
