For those of us that have lived in many different parts of Nova are in on this secret - the toll road is not that bad. My commute this morning from eastern loudoun to DC took me door to door, 50 minutes. I do leave late though, at 8:45. I commute home and leave DC every day at 6:00 pm and almost always arrive at my house at 7:00pm.

267 is cake compared to route 7 -- from Leesburg you have to take the tolls into consideration as well though. What is up to $3.75 (plus an additional .50 toll?) each way now?

yes. that's adds up to alot of out of pocket expenses, plus gas money. $9.00 a day to drive to work. That's why traffic on it from Leesburg to 28 isn't that bad, that's the "privately owned" section and they keep raising the rates. The section of 267 from 28 into 66 is state owned so the rates are .50 nad .75 I believe.
some employers pick up the tab and thats great.

As long as you budget into you cost it's worth it.

Also where the OP is living is not Leesburg propper. It's actually closer to Brambleton and so it's about 15 minutes closer in than most of Leesburg propper.

Glad the commute is better than you expected, yes comming from LA you are used to MUCH worse traffic!! NOVA is bad, but LA... WHOA!

have you gotten to explore much of downtown? The wineries north on 15 are a fun thing to do on a weekend. plan to end the day at Tarara winery...(they have the best wine and a huge deck to watch the sunset etc....)

yes I take the toll road and yes it is expensive but to me it is worth it if it means I can avoid some of the traffic that everybody else is always complaining about.

5stones is correct - I do live off exit 7 past Brambleton although I wouldn't say that it is really 15 minutes closer than leesburg proper. I am about 9-10 miles off the exit and it takes me anywhere from 10-20 minutes to get to the toll road (especially since they are doing construction on the road). I haven't driven in from leesburg so I am not sure how long it takes to get from leesburg proper to exit 7 but I am guessing it is comparable.

5stones - We haven't had the chance to do too much exploring as moving in is definitely time consuming and work is busy right now. We definitely plan to make a trip out to the wineries - I have a client in Charles Town so I have passed them and know where they are. Thanks for the advice
