It might seem early, but I am looking into summer camps for my school-aged daughter. The hardest part is finding camps that happen the last two weeks of summer (in August) and/or camps that are all day long (not these 10am-3pm camps). With my new job this year, I can't just take the time off. I have her in SACC the rest of the summer.

Anyone have any suggestions? I would like to look for camps in and around Burke or in Alexandria (where I work).

Thanks!

We are in the same boat. I don't know where you live. This week I just found out that Hunter Mill Counrty Day School in Vienna (Lawyers & Hunter Mill) offer the camp until Sept. But I don't have any experience with the school. I think Kindercare centers offer camp thru out the summer. Again I don't have personal experience with them.

I signed up 5 years for 2 full day sessions at ParkTakes (Oak Marr). They offer extended care (to 6pm) at some centers. SkateQuest in Reston offers summer camps (except for the last week of the summer) with extended cares too.

My son's school ends 2 weeks earlier than FCPS, I need to find somewhere to fill the time too. Since my son in preschool 3 years ago, I have been constantly searching camp/backup cares to fill his endless breaks/close days.

Good luck!

You will find the all day- all summer camps are at the facilities that offer daycare and before and after care, such as Chesterbrooke Academy, Kindercare might offer it also.

The SACC summer schedule is one reason we don't use it.

Try the Park Authority for your county. PWC is pretty good--not sure what Fairfax offers but I do know that PWC goes right up until school starts.

PWC Park Authority camps end 1 week prior to school starting so there would be a week in between. Most camps will be the same since most of the counselors have to go back to college in mid August. Many of the day care centers offer camp but usually the week before school starts is a calm week without a real program feel.

Okay that's why I thought PWC went "till the end of the summer." My kids were always in private school which started one week before the public school did, so that was never an issue for me; however, I did get it on the other end. When the private school let out, I always had a week when I was scrambling for summer care.
