By the weather reports that I have heard or read about, Fairfax County may see an inch of snow by Friday morning, January 21st. Is that enough to cause Fairfax County schools to be delayed in the morning? Is there some rule of thumb that the schools use if the snow starts in the wee hours of the morning?

Thanks.

I doubt it. From what I've been hearing, we probably won't end up with anything above a dusting. My bet is that schools will be on time.

I hope not- last year I can "understand" how they canceled ahead of storms after having some unanticipated whoppers.. not the case so far..

It was a dusting here in Vienna. Schools were on time. Remember FCPS has to account for folks in Great Falls, the rural parts of Oakton/Herndon, and Clifton, where the roads are narrower. The town of Vienna does a great job with plowing, during Snowmageddon the only days I was stuck were the actual days it was snowing (Saturday/Tuesday.) I drive a 2004 Honda Civic hybrid, so if I can get out I'm sure most people could have.

Of course I went out during the snow and shoveled.

All day yesterday the forecasters were pretty much saying that we weren't going to get anything and, if we did, the temps were still too warm for anything to stick.
