Cool topic! I just put an offer on and am under contract for a townhouse that doesn't offer a master bath tub (they replaced it with a luxury shower). Personally, I hate tubs. They waste water and unless they are heated, they get too cold too quick.

I find it interesting that someone suggested that older people like bathtubs, but my impression from my grandparents is that they prefer showers stalls because it's easier to get in and out of a shower than a bathtub (they can't lift themselves out of tub very easily and it's a trip hazard). Even my mom who is only just retired says it's easier to get in and out of a shower stall.

There is one bathtub in the guest bathroom, so I have one (which is all I need). I never thought about the shower being a resale problem, then again, I don't care. I love the house and love the luxury shower.

For me having a tub in the master bath is not really that big of a deal as long as there is one somewhere else in the house. In almost every house we have lived in, in the last 7yrs there has been both a tub and separate shower in the master bath and I have found the time to use the tub, never. I would opt for more closet space.

I need "A" tub, not my own. So long as they are all clean I'm fine.
