Hello -

appreciate input from those of you who live or have lived in the clarendon and lyon park area of N. Arlington.

we are a young family, work in DC, had looked in glen echo/cabin john, but felt very isolated in terms of easy access to DC (getting to metro, to museums etc).

please give your opinion of the clarendon/lyon park area as well as the schools there: Long Branch, Williamsburg middle, and Washington Lee HS.

thanks very much !

Have friends in the Lyon Park/Clarendon area, who have lived there a long time. They have three grown children and have been very happy there.

The Williamsburg principal recently resigned effective March 2011, alleging illegal discrimination on the part of the superintendent. You might be interested in this article and the comments in response to it:

That's a great neighborhood. I love Clarendon but its too pricey for my taste. Raising a family there is fine. Its a more I don't know the word..."active" neighborhood so you're going to have folks coming and going particularly on the weekend because the bars and restaurants attract a lot of people. So it has a city-lite feel to it.
