Smile RE: Woodbridge crime .... ?

I'm not certain where everyone that's posting lives in Woodbridge, but I'm sitting here scratching my head. We live in Zip 22193. My family has the annoying habit of leaving our garage door up in the summer ( yes- all night) We have never had anything stolen or had a visitor is our family room. Thank God. Granted, I don't think this is a good idea but I just wanted to give you an example. There are places in Woodbridge I would not live. I would not live anywhere near Rte 1. Lake Ridge has it's nice and not so nice areas. But my friends say it takes forever to get to I-95. Anywhere off Cardinal Dr is nice; Montclair is an older area but again has nice streets. Ashland/Winding Creek and Lake Terapin are good- good schools.

Woodbridge is a big area, and like everywhere, like every street you'll always have 2-3 houses that aren't as kept up as the others. We walk our dog at night. Our neighborhood kids play in our cul-de-sac.
My advice to you would be to visit and do your own "looking around" We have lived in 5 states in 10 yrs (NO-not witness protection program
Crime is everywhere; I think we all have to be careful no matter where we live....

There are a lot of people here; too many; traffic - is insane - If I were a native Virginian I'd be livid. But there are many good things about NOVA too. We've been very fortunate and happy here. I hope this helps. Good luck with your travels.

I was a police officer in the 22193 area code (all of dale city was basically my beat area). I took MANY larceny reports from people leaving their garage doors open. I wouldn't do that in a "low crime" area much less than in dale city....

I guess it must be pretty bad. They murdered the substitute Popeye's manager on Smoketown Rd. last night. RIP--I understand he was quite a fine young man.

Default Good grief

Nitrovic did you see where I wrote that No- I didn't think it was a good idea to leave the door open at night ? I'm not an idiot. I'm sure you've seen some bad things being a police officer; however , I was stating that we've never had a problem.
Thank God. I would not equate Woodbridge being on par with East LA, SE DC or any other crime ridden area. You have a nice day

I didn't have a problem living in Woodbridge/Dale City area, I lived there for about 4 years before I moved to Arizona..I hardly ever heard of much crime.

Yeah, that really sucks. From what I hear he was a good guy, got out of the slums of New York and came here to make something of himself. Real sad. Same thing happened at the pizza hut off of Rt.1 a while back, guy had a couple little kids and they blasted him. I responded to a call last summer in Dumfries where an ex-boyfriend shot his girlfriend in the face while she was holding their 8 month old. I was the second officer on scene. We thought the kid was dead because it wasn't moving and had blood all over it. Turned out the blood was from the mom and the kid was in shock. What a scene. Luckily the guy shot himself in the head when we tracked him down to his apartment in Dale City. I know people think these areas are real nice, but when you really read the papers and open your eyes you see a different story. No, they arent SE D.C. or Compton, but we still have some bad areas.

That is a very nice area. Like i said prior, Dale City has some nice areas. However, there are some questionable ones as well.
