Yup, that's their strategy. And it's a strategy I applaud! Yay for price freezes.

still not sure it is worth the 15 minute drive when I have 3 places within walking distance of my house, but I definitely am happy with this strategy. I'm sure their profits are NOT coming from their staple sales, anyway!

All I know is I LOVE the kidcare room. I was looking for a place to host a kid party and happened upon the free kidcare service. I wish ALL stores had this - it would make grocery shopping a MUCH more pleasant experience for all.

Kidcare? Can you elaborate on that? I shop at the one in Fairfax, but would drive to another one for the chance to shop alone!!!

The one in sterling has a room where you can drop your kid off with a couple store employees. You get a beeper and your child can play with toys, draw or watch a little TV while you shop. Don't know if it is in all of them, but now I wish I lived a little closer...OR that other stores would take their cue from them.

Wegman's is jaw-dropping, but I find it too big sometimes for just regular every-day shopping. Their wine store is killer.

In case you haven't heard, a new store is going up at the intersection of Telegraph Rd and Beulah in Newington near Ft. Belvoir.

And another reason to love Wegmans: Went the other day for a whole fryer chicken (the 88 cents a pound Wegman's brand) and they were sold out. Let me have the organic chicken ($3,69/LB) for 88 cents/lb instead...

That's good to know. Usually when they don't have something I just look for something else and don't ask the staff for help. Next time I'll ask.

That is good customer service. Every store should be that way. I know when I am out of something I too offer the next closest thing at the same price.
