I love(d) Freedom Center but its sort of out of the way. So far, I've heard Retro Fitness is nice...

Yeah Retrofitness is real nice and their prices are pretty reasonable. I wish Fitness First would open a branch in Manassas. They seem to be all over NoVa except for PWC.

I used to go to Anytime Fitness in Bristow, it was nice. Now I have a membership at Planet Fitness in Manassas because it's only $10/month.

Depends a lot on what you want in a gym. I have a membership to Anytime, which I like for its convenience. Now I also go to Next Level in Haymarket (Next Level Performance Training - Northern Virginia, athlete training, physical fitness classes, personal trainers) and love it there. It's not your typical gym with tons of treadmills and such (in fact, only "cardio" equip is stationary bikes), but all training takes place in a class or one-on-one/semiprivate sessions. Involves intense circuit training with weights, sleds, TRX equipment, etc. Much more of a functional fitness approach, and the trainers are great. I really like it because it forces me to do things I wouldn't do if I was working out on my own. Plus it's a small gym, they know everyone by name, and will give you a boatload of crap if they don't see you in a while (which I need ) It's more pricey than a standard gym membership, but since you're working out with a personal trainer every time you go, it's much cheaper than a gym membership + personal trainer add-on.

Joined what is now Sport & Health when they first opened under the prior management and wasn't too crazy about it. Haven't been there since they converted, but just not into the crowded gym scenes...
