I try to do my part but you know what, it's hard to think up good ones. I don't know where she keeps coming up with them. It must be a side effect from eating so much Nutella.

That may be the best definition of being a "regular" here: you know who the above-mentioned "she" is . (Love you, Normie!)

Well, since this thread was my final motivation to set up an account and become a C-D regular, I figure I better add one (note: this is the inverse of some we've already seen...):

We're from California and my spouse just received a job offer in McLean(Arlington, DC, Bethesda, etc...). We love the East Coast and are looking for a traditional home with great schools. We HATE the suburbs (I'd die if I ever actually had to eat at a Cheesecake Factory), as well as any house built after 1925 and before 2008. Our budget is $2M -- where should we live?????????? Oh! I should add that my child is gifted (I mean, I know yours is *too*, but mine is TRULY gifted...). Thanks!

Oh, and being we are from California, we know all about traffic and highways. Should we live near the 7 or is it better to live near the 66 or the 495?

This thread has made my day.

Which one of the close-in suburbs are under $300K..and are "winning" suburbs?

I thought the same! When I lived out in Cali everyone put that definite article in front of interstate numbers. I was the outsider, so I tolerated it. First thing I did when when of my Cali friends came out to visit was set him straight every time he said "the" 66 or "the" 29.
