It's perfectly safe to drink. If you don't like it, buy a brita type filter or purchase bottled water.

Do you mean the city of Alexandria, or the county part? I believe you were in Huntington?

My city water is mostly fine, sometimes it has too much chlorine. I use it for all drinking and cooking. The water supply may be from the Corbalis treatment plant. Corbalis Treatment Plant--Potomac River Guide

Well my notes must be deficient, because Huntington isn't in the city, but anyway, not to pry, enjoy your water!

No.

Enjoy your water in whatever form you get it. Isn't that what you're seeking, enjoyable water?

Let me check...

Tastes alright to me!

And yes, Huntington, while bordering Alexandria City, is technically in Fairfax County.

Actually, I happen to prefer Brita water filters. (Most tap water tastes "funny" to me.) When I lived just down the road from you on Route 1/Richmond Highway, I usually bought them from the Target or Wal-Mart stores nearby.

I've lived in some places with extremely foul tap water (not Chicago, though... Chicago tap water is amazingly clear and flavorless.. gotta love Lake Michigan) - I've experienced overly-chlorinated, yellow/brown, sulfur-/well-tasting, etc., but the tap water I've tried in the DC area has had an odd, vaguely 'fishy'/rancid marine note to it. I noticed this about the tap water in College Park, MD; Huntington, Fairfax Co.; and now Fairfax City. So, yeah, Winter2010, I'd get a filter or buy bottled water. (I actually drink distilled most of the time.)
