This. Arlandria is basically working-class, not so much a hotbed of criminal activity.

And regarding the post on Pimmit Hills being considered ghetto, all I have to say is... WOW!

You are likely referring to the sad case of Nancy Dunning, a Del Ray resident who was killed over a decade ago. As those who have read or watched local news know, a male "person of interest" who has been connected to that case and two similar deaths is in the process of fighting extradition from West Virginia. If I recall correctly, that man once lived out in Loudoun County, far from Alexandria's Del Ray neighborhood.

I took it primarily to be a reference to the later slayings in 2013 and 2014, rather than to the 2003 shooting that may be connected.

Severance arraigned in Loudoun County on gun charge - DC News FOX 5 DC WTTG

I lived in a DC neighborhood once where a serial killer who lived in NJ was driving around randomly shooting people. The impact was certainly felt much more in our neighborhood than it was in NJ.

IIRC Mrs. Dunning was the only victim who lived in Del Ray. So IMO there can't be a blanket statement made about Del Ray based on a tragedy from ten years ago. The OP has likely moved on - ideally to Del Ray for their sake - but I would encourage those who are considering moving to the neighborhood to check it out both during the day and at night.
