Why do you want to kill them? So cruel.

We did have a parakeet/budgerigar when I was growing up who actually loved to be pet, though.

I love Mourning Doves. We had a pair at our house in Sterling that always perched on the deck. Now that we're out in Winchester, we have a pair that wanders the yard. We keep saying that they "followed us" out here.

I even describe my favorite paint color of grey as "Dove Grey".

I have two peach trees and the squirrels stole every peach off of one tree and so got most of the peaches on the other one. Can I shoot them with a pellet/bb gun in Fairfax? Any other suggestions as to how to raise peaches with "tree rats" nearby?

A natural solution would be dogs or cats. If one is more chemically inclined, Brodifacoum should work well on squirrels since it works well on rats and mice. If latter, make sure the trap is tamper-proof and kept away from pets and small children.

A high powered water pistol is whole lot more fun.

No you can't. If you're in a residential area then it is gun controlled to include BB/Pellet guns. Go back to page 1 as I believe someone posted the law for FX.

As I understand it the law on this recently changed allowing the use of bb/airguns on private property in Fairfax.

Virginia Shooting Sports Association: Fairfax County Fixes Air Rifle Ordinance Passed June 21st.

You could also use a slingshot or bow. I think you might also need to get a game license to hunt squirrels and do it in-season, I'm not sure, but VA Fish and Wildlife could probably tell you.

Or you could just keep your property from being a food source as previously mentioned by other posters. I'm assuming you want to keep your fruit trees though!

I wonder how many squirrels want to kill you for invading their property? Probably none because they are more humane than you. Get over it. Share the land (and pizza too).
