Considering move to Sterling. Kids will go to middle and elementary school. Can someone tell which schools are best in Sterling? I heard that there are some gang problems in Sterling park!

When I search for homes, which zip code is to be searched (for good schools)? Is there a chance I get a SFH for 400k?

Thanks

for better schools go 10 minutes west to Ashburn. or 10 minutes east to Herndon.

But if you must stay in Sterling I'd avoid Sterling middle school. (and seneca ridge as well)

Look into Lowes Island.

I'd look into neighborhoods that serve Riverbend Middle school.

Hmmm, well, zip codes aren't a surefire thing but I'd say the best schools are located within 20165. This is where Cascades, Countryside and Lowes Island are, in the northern and newest portion of Sterling. I'm pretty sure most of these areas funnel into Potomac Falls High School which is the best of the three high schools in Sterling, and therefore I'd assume the middle and elementary schools follow the same sor of path.

As for finding a home for under 400K, well, I would say it's doable in Sterling as a whole, but your options within this particular area (Potomac Falls HS) are much much smaller. There may be a few just below 400K lying around, most likely in Countryside, but as a whole, I'd say most single-family homes start a bit higher. There's a good number of single family homes in the lower 400s though.

The schools in 20165 are excellent. I live in cascades and all the parents rave about the schools. Potomac Falls High was ranked in Newsweek as one of the top high schools in the country.

Good luck!

yes..to me that's the only area in sterling I'd live with kids going to school...

Countryside elem (Lowes Island elem), Riverbend middle and Potomac falls high.

Not that are aren't other nice pockets of areas in sterling, it's just that the schools over in Cascades, lowes Island etc....are much better.

Potomack and Horizon Elementary are also excellent and feed into Riverbend Middle and Potomac Falls High.
