My husband's job is moving from DC to Quantico. We are thinking of using this as an opportunity to move from Alexandria down to Northern Stafford so I could stay home with the kids. We are starting to look at neighborhoods, probably looking to spend up to $330K. We started out looking at Austin Ridge and Hampton Oaks and really liked those areas, but thinking now they might be out of our price range. We want a real community feel, nice house, good schoools. Any suggestions on schools/neighborhoods that are good or to stay clear of would be helpful! We are also now starting to look at Widewater Village and some other communities. Thank you!

My guess is that the OP hasn't checked on her one post since submitting it two months ago.

would love additional information on stafford. Since posting this, we have changed our budget and might go up to $400K, but would like to keep it under $350. We still like Austin Ridge (might be out of our price range) and Hampton Oaks. We found Stafford Lakes Village down in Southern Stafford but would really rather stay in Northern Stafford. We are looking for a community with a pool. If it doesn't have a pool, do you know if there are pools in the area you can join? Thanks for any information!

Have you looked at the Park Ridge subdivision? It feeds into Park Ridge elementary which we really love, it does have a community pool, and the public library is in the area. The middle is Rodney Thompson and the high school is N Stafford. It is actually south of Hampton Oaks and I would think you would be able to find something in your price range. Just thought I would throw the idea out there.

Cardinal Forest is across 17 and a little further down from Stafford Lakes Village. It has a pool. Leeland Station also has a pool and I see a sign outside the subdivision advertising for pool memberships. The Y on Butler Rd has 2 pools and an outdoor mini water park. I think there is a brand new Y out by mountain view.
