I don't know what the "rules" are about having an agent show us a house. My husband will be in town for several hours and would like to pop over and see a house. We are not at the point of figuring out who our ultimate agent will be once we are "serious" about looking at multiple properties.

Can/should he just call the listing agent and see if they can set up a time. What happens if we ultimately choose a different agent, but buy the house that he is planning on seeing this trip?

Thank you for any advice

For anything binding, you'd sign an agreement. Until then, do as you please.

Yes, call the listing agent to see the house. Do mention to the agent that if you should decide to buy the house you plan on retaining your own agent to represent you.

Definitely contact the listing agent of the house. Of course they'll ask if you have a realtor. Just let them know your situation and take their card in case you are interested in hiring them or have more questions on the house.
