I see that there is a toll road that runs between Reston and McLean. How is it during your typical rush hour commute? I would be going from Reston to McLean and then vice versa. Also, if you know, what are the rates on the toll road?

Thanks much!

There's always a lot of traffic on the toll road for that commute, but as long as there isn't an accident, it usually moves okay. 20-40 minutes, depending on how close to the toll road you are at either end.

The exit from 267 onto Route 7 can back up, comprising a substantial portion of the whole trip time. Also, estimate on the high side for commute time given the impact of metro construction in this area over the next two years.

I commute from Reston to Tyson's everyday, and I always use Route 7. I don't think the Toll road saves me enough time to justify the extra cost to be honest, but maybe that's because i'm cheap.

My commute takes 30-40 minutes during rush hour (7:30 am). It's not really that bad, and like waagbuck says, the worst part of it is where 267 dumps its traffic into Route 7.

The back roads (Hunters Mill, Browns Mill, Beulah, Courthouse, etc) is a decent alternative. Takes about 30 minutes to get to Tysosns Corner.

When I commuted to Tysons - I found getting off the toll road onto Spring Hill Road faster than getting of on Route 7.

When we lived in Reston, my wife commuted to Tysons every day on the toll road. We lived about 7-8 minutes from the Wiehle on-ramp. She'd get off at Spring Hill and drive a few minutes to her office. It was usually a pretty reliable 20 minutes.
