An 8 and 10 year old don't care about DC. They care about fun. I'd second the lazer tag/bowling/etc idea.

Is a trip to Baltimore to the aquarium too far to drive?

I think the Cub Run pool is a great idea. Or any other indoor water park. Also, did you check that Festivals and Events thread? There might be something good in there. You could also check local newspapers or online sites for events in your area.
