I drove past that mall 3 weeks ago during the day (on a Saturday) and the parking lot was so empty! I thought Manassas mall was bad but on the weekends, that mall has a lot of people in it still, and new stores are going in.

Is it the same deal with Springfield Mall like Landmark? The cube entrances are strange.

And I was wondering why there are so many cars in the parking lot today (I had to go do a job at Sears) - I didn't walk the mall but I was pretty surprised by how many cars were parked outside Macy's, etc.

Why are our malls around here so bad?? I drove past Landmark mall also and the only thing that really caught my eye was Macys....If there isnt a need for stores then they should they waste electricty, water, etc. resources that other people or remote countries could be using and shut down! lol no really though how is Landmark & Springfield Mall still running??

include Manassas mall in that group too, and if they're not careful, Fair Oaks mall could turn into that as well, I can already see the warning signs when I'm in Fair Oaks

I think its the internet you can get good deals from the comfort of your own home, so if malls dont give people a reason to drive waste gas ( with prices going higher and higher) , walk around, and spend money in them....most people will just click a few buttons and get it delievered to there doorsteps Thats what i do!

Just curious, what warning signs do you see at Fair Oaks Mall? The last time I was there it was still quite crowded and it was nowhere as rundown as Springfield/Landmark.

Isn't there a plan in works to upgrade Fair Oaks Mall sort of like what they did at the Tyson Corner Mall a few years ago? I thought I read something about it a while ago.

I have only been to Fair Oaks a handful of times in the past few years, but each time I have gone it seems absolutely DEAD compared to what it used to be. I remember going there in the late 80s and early 90s when it was packed.

Then again, Tysons Galleria always seems dead to me, too, except for the restaurants. I wonder how some of the high end stores stay in business.
