Anyone hear have experience leasing a hybrid car and also obtaining the VA clean fuel plates for the car? In reading the DMV site it appears that you can get the plates for a leased car as long as your name appears on the registration (either on its own, or even along with the leasing company). Is this true?

Second question - at the time the lease is up, and you either buy or lease another hybrid, can you transfer those clean fuel plates to the next hybrid car?

thanks!

My dad did not get the CF plates for his hybrid because there was no benefit to him (he uses I-95 so he can't ride those lanes). Yes, if the registration is in your name you can get the plates and yes you can transfer plates from car to car.

Re: transferring it to a new car--you may want to investigate this on the web a bit more. It's my understanding that this year's legislation grandparents in those with existing plates but the gov. wasn't willing to allow purchasers/those who lease after June 30 to obtain them. If so, maybe he also is not going to allow transfers.
