We probably should also mention the horsey side of Virginia. After all, if you were to ask someone who didn't live here what they'd find in Virginia, thoroughbred horses would probably be the #1 answer.
The funny thing is that the people who live closer to DC don't tend to think much about horses--there are lots of people on this forum who have never even been to the Gold Cup or any of the horse events. Not even the Middleburg Fox Hunt Christmas Parade (which is a unique and truly cool thing.)

Since driving takes an important block of their time, they would be much more likely to think a Prius or an SUV represents VA rather than a horse.

Speaking about the Prius, we were one of the first areas of the country where hybrid cars became a common, every day site. And we'll probably be one of the first to embrace the Leaf and other electric cars, too.

Just curious, as I've seen the references of that before. Is that most common in Loudon County....and out in Winchester City area as well? Or mostly just Loudon? Just curious.

The biggest events are in Loudoun and Fauquier Counties. The area around Middleburg, Upperville and Warrenton is Horse Central. That's also where a lot of celebrities have horse farms, so it's the area that gets all of Hollywood's attention (and, like it or not, Hollywood is what forms many outsider's ideas of what a place is like).
BTW, Winchester is just called Winchester.

Be careful spelling "Loudoun" around here. It has two Us. LOUD-doun.
Tiger Beer, have you considered Portland (Oregon or Maine), Boulder, Colorado, or Seattle? It seems like what you are looking for might be more readily found in those areas.

I totally agree. TB are you thinking about moving again? If so, I'd seriously recommend looking at other cities that have older neighborhoods and downtowns--having read your posts for awhile I really think that if you didn't have those things you'd be miserable. Nova is a great place for me, but I really do think it would be the wrong fit for you.
