Sorry, had to throw that in there. I am a beer person and am therefore, naturally, a thread and party crasher.
Holy crap, I was about to post the exact same thing....until I saw your post! I agree, why can't wine just be beer instead?? Enjoying a Magic Hat 'Wacko' right now.

LOL this is too funny... I was thinking the same thing too. We're having a little bit of an unofficial beer tasting over at my house even as I type. We're comparing Buffalo Bill Orange Blossom, Abita Turbodog, and Leiniheugel Sunset Wheat. (Just happened to be what we had leftover from the party this weekend.) We had some Magic Hat, too, but that got polished off last night.

Usually I like the Turbodog but tonight my fav is the Orange Blossom. Must be because it's spring.

BTW, to keep this Nova oriented, the best beer locally has got to be the holiday ale they make at Sweetwater Tavern. Good stuff!

I want to know why Sunset Hills was so crowded today! It's the middle of the week, so I thought for sure I'd have the deck and the view to myself. Guess not. Hey, aren't Novans supposed to be workaholics?

Had lunch there Monday. With a Naked River Light, I believe. Wasn't familiar with it, but pretty darn good.

Every time I read this thread title, I think it's going to be a list of things like:

1. My condo fee is too high!
2. Someone dinged my Benz in the parking lot of Whole Foods!
3. Why are all these dudes wearing brown flip flops?

Because I see "wine whines" as "white whines" and there's that blog and all....

LOL. No, we rescheduled Mother's Day to Monday on account of ominous eatery crowd forecasts the day before. Simultaneously cancelled work in order to accommodate it. The prerogatives of power. Good thing, as in addition to the beer, Sweetwater had their very good ahi tuna appetizer up as a special on Monday.

there are more microbrew beers around then ever. So many (including quite a few from virginia, metro DC, etc) that you could even start a thread about it

Barley wine is a beer, kinda, isn't it?

I like the selection of beers that Whole Foods (Vienna) has. Some old standbys in the 6-packs but also lots of creative local selections, as well as the single larger bottles of more unusual beers. They also have their own beers they sell in growlers.
