Let's see. What was the last 3-day weekend when significant scheduled track maintenance was not done somewhere? This is major work, such as ripping out and replacing parts of switches and replacing aging sections of the automatic train-control systems. Can't be done overnight. Would you rather they did it during the week and knocked out service during half a dozen rush hours? Would you rather that they didn't do it at all? Oh, and while they are at it, they will be laying five more miles of upgraded cable so that your cellphone will work in the tunnels. Happy now?
