I try to find a job around DC area, mostly, the Fairfax, VA, but can not afford the high house price, also I am close to 50, the kids already went to college, no need the top school any more.
I am living at Long island, NY for years, and have couple of questions.

1. is it possible to commute from woodbridge to fairfax? how about the traffic, I have one hybrid Toyota Prius, can drive on HOV lane by myself.

2. same question, but commute from woodbridge to DC.

3. does woodbridge has enough marina for fishing boat?

4. how is the property tax for woodbridge house?

5. is any section of woodbridge more safe than other spots, or any particular spot to avoid?

Thanks.

It's very possible. You would likely not even use I-95. Also, hybrids are no longer allowed to use the HOV lanes with less than 3 riders. The only way you get to use them is if you had purchased your hybrid prior to 2006 (I believe, maybe 2007) AND you got the clean fuel plates at that time. Then you got grandfathered in. You could not move here now and get the permission to use the lanes. I-66 doesn't have those restrictions yet; however, I think they might be coming.

I commute from Woodbridge to DC. I leave very early in the morning 5:15 and am at my desk at 6:00 a.m. If you leave later your travel time gets exponentially worse but there are many options to get you out of that traffic (carpools, vans, buses, train, and slugging).

Yes there are marinas. My friend has their boat in Occoquan.

My house is valued at about $325,000 and my tax bill is around $3,000 per year.

Look in zip codes 22192. Many areas of 22193 are great. Most areas of 22191 not that great.

Also check out the neighborhood of Montclair which is actually in Dumfries. One of the neighborhood's entrances is actually in Woodbridge so even though it has a Dumfries address, it really feels like it's in Woodbridge rather than Dumfries proper.
