What is the area south of Franklin Farm Road and east of Fairfax County Parkway down to Inova Fair Oaks Hospital?

To be specific, bounded by Franklin Farm Road on the northside, Fairfax County Parkway west, West Ox east and Rugby Road south. North of that seems to be Oak Hill/Herndon, west of that seems to be Chantilly and south of it Fair Oaks, but that area does not seem to have any name and seems to have generically "Fairfax" address.

Also, does anyone have some descriptions of what the area looks like, shops in the area, parks, amenities as well as demographics (family size, income, education, etc.)?

There were several differenet developers in the area, so I have no idea if there is a specific name to it or the names of the communities. Someone who lives there may know, but I live close by for over 30 years and have watched it all develop. The demographics will be very much like the area surrounding it. What you're describing geographically isn't all that big. As for parks, amenities, it's all surrounding it. I would think Franklin Farm shopping center is the closest, or maybe Greenbriar shopping center, or just down the road to Fair Oaks mall. There are old homes in there as well as newer ones. I guess, personally, I don't see anything wrong with a "generic" Fairfax address. Just go and drive around, or if not in the area, use one of websites that shows it, like Google Earth. You can put specific addresses into the property lookup on the FFX Co. website to see what the assessment are if that's important.

By your description, I wouldn't quibble with anyone who called this area Herndon OR Chantilly. Sounds close enough to both that it could be included with either of them. Maybe you want to find the zip code for this area and see if it is "predominantly" a zip for a certain area. Also, see what realtors with listings in that area refer to it as. A note of caution, however: realtors will often ascribe the most prestigious/desirable area to enhance their listing when they have a handful of areas to choose from.

Okay, I've seen it described as "Navy" and "Thompson." Does that ring a bell?

That's probably historical references. I know there's a Thompson Road there, don't know anything about that. Navy Elementary School is there. Just looked at the school's website and here's some history on the two names, Navy Elementary School Hope that helps. As far as currently, I believe most of it is part of the 22033 zip code which is Fairfax.
