Sounds more like a place on the Jersey Shore, to me. (Boardwalk reference and all.)

There will be a Ledo Pizza opening in the West Springfield area sometime soon. That should be a good choice.

I try to be extra careful when posting in NoVA restaurant/food threads. Don't want to end up in a massive food fight.
Hmmm...sounds like you might be right. I didn't realize a Boardwalk Burgers and Fries had gone in on that side. It is kind of surprising since BGR just opened on the Keene Mill side near Austin Grill. How many burger places does an area need?

Austin Grill is also in the front. It's not bad.

I don't think there is a Boardwalk Burgers there. BGR Burger Joint just opened though, but I wouldn't recommend it or Victor's.
Boardwalk Burgers and Fries did indeed just open in West Springfield, as did a Thai restaurant in the same center. Going the other way on Franconia Rd there are several restaurants, including one I've experienced, Paradisio (SP?). Then, of course, there are many eateries in the Kingstowne area, albeit a couple miles or so from the OP's residence.

Old Keene Mill @ Rolling right? How recently? When we were out there in April, we went to Celydon Thai (something along those lines) in that shopping center. Pretty decent, not amazing, but good, and IIRC there was some take out ordered while we were eating.

You might also want to consider the restaurants in the Kingstowne area. Technically not springfield but pretty darn close. Specifically the bonefish. Always have a good meal there. Also the wifey likes the Macaroni Grill there. Not sure if you plan on venturing towards Woodbridge but if you do you cant go wrong with Smokey Bones. I know its not springfield but I think their ribs are amazing.

Austin Grill at Old Keene Mill & Rolling Road for Mexican, Tayaki Grill (same address) for sit down or take out (Japanese/Chinese), Paradiso (very good old-school Italian) on Franconia Road (near you), Hard Times Cafe for dirt cheap casual fare (Springfield Plaza), and Genghis Grill (Springfield Parkway & Beulah Rd) for dirt cheap and top notch Mongolian.

If you are willing to head in the direction Springfield Parkway and Beulah, not far from Mikes at all is a failry new place Walkers Grill. Walker's Grille :: American Dining

We have had some very enjoyable means there and so far have not had the crowds you have at Mikes. They recently added some signs making it easier to spot, it's right across the street from the Genghis Grill in the previous post.

Thanks for all the suggestions so far. Funny thing, last night I tried to find one of the places listed and got myself all turned around... ended up at Outback because I was sick of driving around, lol. But that was my last meal out for a while. I finally have my kitchen unpacked and groceries purchased. But it's great to know all these other places for when I want to take a guest/friend/visiting relative out to dinner.

Boardwalk Fresh Burgers & Fries opened recently at exactly that location and is a great hit. I found the burgers sumptuous and fresh and much cheaper than BGR burger joint. Their fries are the same as Boardwalk Fries that made the brand famous on the Atlantic shoreline. I don't understand what you mean by "It looked like a place that might be found in coastal California"! Maybe you don't know enough about the Atlantic coast .... where the "boardwalk" is iconic, whether in Maryland or New Jersey... Heard of the recent HBO series called "Boardwalk Empire"? You think "it looked like a thing that happened in coastal California"?

Anyway, apologies for veering off the subject and starting off what might become a "massive coastal fight". ;-) That said, you ought to try Boardwalk Burgers if in the area. There's another one like that in Manchester, VA (towards Alexandria).
