So my girlfriend and I are planning on moving to NOVA no later than November. Her job is in Alexandria and my job and school is in Fairfax. We don't mind commuting seeing that we both don't truly have a choice in the matter. Now we are looking into apartments and we're trying to find a place in between both of our jobs. What would everyone recommend looking into. We would love to stay under 1500 a month.

Annandale is a happy medium. Down 236 in either direction to get to both your offices.

What about Falls Church? Is this a good area for apartments?

Falls Church City is wonderful, but you probably mean parts of Fairfax County with FC mailing address. Some of them OK if you don't have kids, some of them not so much. None are particularly convenient to both Fairfax and Alexandria. Although if the job in Alexandria is accessible by Metro, Merrifield (in walking distance to Dunn Loring station) could be OK.

Falls Church is a pain to commute to Alexandria from. If you want metro access, I'd suggest Kingstowne near the end of the blue line, or any of the apartments by the Van Dorn Metro should be in your price range. Still an easy commute to Old Town by Van Dorn to Eisenhower or 236, and you could hop on 495 to Braddock to 236 to get to Fairfax.

Kingstowne is a good suggestion. Also, in Annandale, if you could find a rental in the Pinecrest townhouse development, that would be a decent half-way point between Fairfax and Alexandria, and I'd think it might attract a somewhat younger set of residents than most of Annandale.
