Needless to say, no sticky fingers here.

We Catholics must think alike. On my way to school we passed a fenced surrounding a lot which had a sign saying "Tresspassers will be prosecuted" I thought it meant "executed'.

My son confessed that when the game shows gave away "parting gifts"' to the losers, he thought they said "party gifts" Like balloons and confetti.

I saw a place in one of the seedier parts of Dallas that had a sign that said
"Trespassers Will Be Shot
Survivors Will Be Castrated"
I have a feeling that homeowner didn't have too many problems.

I didn't know that Smokey Robinson was black until I saw him on American Idol last year...I was 35 at the time... And - I also found out that Carole King is white.... LOL...not that it matters but where have I been??? These two things happened in the same year....I was flabbergasted. You know how you already have in your head of what the person 'might' look like...well, that's what I had....and it was all wrong.

Yeah, before all the other roads were built around it. Amazing what roads do and don't exist anymore out in that area....used to be a lot of farmland and forest when I moved there in the 80s. Not sure what it was like even before that.

When I first saw those signs I thought "prosecuted" meant something like "electrocuted".

Sometimes you have to be aware of your surroundings when you make a statement. When I worked on Death Row at our State Penitentiary we would eat our meals with the Death Row inmates in a special day room. There would usually be one caseworker and two of us Blues in the dining area with nine inmates from Death Row. I was walking a little bit crooked from a backache that day. One of the inmates asked me if I was having a problem. I told him " yeah. My back hurts like hell today. I was working a tower yesterday. The damned chairs in this place will kill you." You could have heard a pin drop. Then one of the DR inmates said "Yeah. I know about the chairs in this place." At that time the method of execution was the Electric Chair. Like I said there is a time and a place.

As a young kid of maybe 5 or 6, I had it in my head that if someone was "fired" from their job, that it meant they would be dismissed by being set on fire. I remember my dad coming home a couple of times, saying to my mom "so and so got fired today". That made me nervous. I was all upset like "uh oh, I sure hope they don't fire Dad!!"
