My girlfriend lives in Pentagon City at one of the Archstone apartment buildings. It's a 2 bedroom/2 bathroom apartment and I have been staying over there for the past few months.

Her most recent utility bill was about $240 for all 3 of us. That seems to be a bit high for cable/internet, water, gas, and electric. The cable/internet is fixed and is about $60 or so. Gas and electric are typically $40-50 each. Water is where it's killer, because it was $80. The sewage is fee is where they get us.

Facts:
A/C set at 69 degrees (although I would like it to be 74)
No energy efficient lightbulbs
Roommate leaves lights on in her room and TV on all day for the dog
GF takes 15 minute showers and I usually take 5 minute showers
We have washer/dryer in our apartment

I'm wondering if this is normal? I'm pretty smart when it comes to saving water/electricity, but this seems to be a ridiculous amount for utilities.

Your water sounds extremely high to me. I live in PWC, but my last water bill was $82. We live in a sfh (so we pay to water the lawn) and have 6 in our household--so showers, laundry, dishes, etc for about twice the amount of people you have...

Wow...69 degres for a/c?!?!?!? We keep ours at 78!

Dang! I thought women were constantly cold anyways? I keep mine at 78* and when my Mom stays with us she gets cold.

I live in a SFH and our last water bill was $40, electric was $131.
