We need to possibly get a new system for one zone in our home. Who is the best company to go with in terms of good price and reliability?

Thanks

I use Duvalls in Manassas. We have had multiple issues with our system and had a couple of 'big name' companies out....one which actually installed the wrong part and almost ruined our system. I know other folks who use Duvalls (which is how we got turned onto them - referral from a friend). They are small but really know what they are doing. I really wouldn't ever deal with anyone else since we found them.

I would consider joining either angieslist or consumercheckbook.org considering the expense of a system like this. You can get many recommendations from them.

I'm getting one of my zones replaced Sunday. My husband is an electrician and the guy who owns the company is on one of his jobs. We had three estimates (Fuhr, this company, and Davis-Ford) and they are the best of the three. Of course I don't know their name but I will find out!

I've used Residential Systems Incorporated (RSI) of Chantilly (www.rsi-hvac.com) for the past decade to maintain my furnace and air conditioning system. I'm really impressed with the attitude, knowledge, and professionalism of their service technicians who do the yearly inspection of each system. When our 20+ year-old furnace was in its death throes this past winter, moreover, the technician was able to keep it running through a sub-freezing night until they could install a new furnace the next day.

When we lived in NOVA, we liked Krafft in Alexandria. 703-751-7510. They kept our system in great shape for more than a decade.

If you are replacing your system, you MUST get a quote from Kirk Shanahan of Shanahan's Heating and Cooling, Inc. 703 321-9622.

There are some real ripoff artists in the residential HVAC biz and I've seen Kirk come in at up to half of what some other guys want for the same or better equipment (he's a Trane dealer).

He's been taking care of my house and my rental properties for 20+ years and I highly recommend him. Honest and reliable...and that's rare these days.

If he did the commercial side too, he'd be my only HVAC guy.

I would definitely get a couple of opinions and quotes. You've got a few great companies to pick from.
