I agree about 1.5 hours without accidents - all bets are off if there is an accident on Hwy 15. $10.50/day in tolls will add up really fast.

I think you should come live in Reston!

Or at the very least if you move to MD move closer to the Cabin John bridge.

You pay that toll coming and going on the Greenway (I think it's slightly less in off-peak hours).

The Greenway/Rt. 15 is the route my wife and I use to get out of northern Virginia when we head north to New York via Pennsylvania. Even after morning rush hour has ended and traffic greatly reduced, it will almost always take us 45 minutes from Reston to the Point of Rocks bridge over the Potomac, and then another 15 minutes to get to the southern outskirts of Frederick just past I-70.

I second (or third) the suggestion by other posters here that you consider living in Virginia, if possible. Cardinal rule of commuting: if at all possible, you never want a major bridge (i.e., Point of Rocks) between your home and your job.

Why not try the commute and find out for yourself? Have you looked at homes in Point of Rocks. I can get from there to the toll road exit in Leesburg during peak hours pretty consistently in about 20-25 minutes. Both my wife and I have done it during this time. From their to Reston, I am not familiar with.
