Howdy

I've been offered a great job at Dulles where should I live? If I live in Sterling hows the traffic? Is the traffic always busy or busy during rush hours? I'm a country boy moving soon and I just wanted to know about the area.

It would help to know what you might be looking for in a home/neighborhood. You said you were a country boy so that helps a little. Do you know your work hours? How far are you willing to travel and what kind of budget are you looking at?

Well I'm traveling in the area tomorrow. I don't know much about the area the job is at the airport. I never been I just want some change from my normal life. I want to live close to my job as possible but I don't really want to live in a big city if you get my drift.

If you want a "country" feel neighborhood, you might consider Countryside (especially the back neighborhoods close to the river, many of which actually have chickens, horses, goats, and other little "farmettes"). Countryside is in the north section of Sterling, right next to the Potomac. You take 28 to get to IAD. I think it's about 5-6 miles.

Cool

But how is the traffic? If I work at the airport and wanted to live close to my job to avoid traffic where should I live? It don't matter if its country just to avoid lots of traffic.

Traffic is going to be a pain near Dulles Airport, no matter where you live. You might consider Reston, because you can hop right onto the Airport Connector on 267 and Fairfax County Parkway. That stretch of the toll road is free, it goes directly to IAD, and that would probably have the fastest moving traffic in the morning for someone who works there. 28 is going to have bad traffic, ho matter where you live.

Why worry about traffic? It's a 5 minute drive (In traffic, maybe 10-15 minutes).

The job is probably in that office complex on the service road. If so, then parking for those buildings is free.
