I have a 2500 sq ft house, in Fairfax County -- can anyone tell me what they pay for a comparable house for house cleaning?

Our cleaning lady charges us $120, but it's too much. I've stopped having her in because it pisses me off to pay someone more than I make for the same amount of time. She does a good job, though - we've paid less (85), but it wasn't as good.

For 2500 sq. ft., I have received quotes from $90 to $185 for a cleaning frequency of every other week.

2500 sq. ft, every other week, $120. They change the sheets on the beds and get a load of laundry started. I hate changing sheets.

Marie -- I feel the same way -- I don't know that it's worth it at that price. Twice as much as I had been paying in New Orleans -- i know, this is NOVA, but other things certainly aren't twice as expensive.

Are the rates that people are quoting hourly or per visit?

I could have been getting paid all these years I've been cleaning my own home? Wait until I tell the wife.

She should have claimed you as a dependent, or a household employee (or slave).

I pay $160 for one cleaning per month. I have had other quotes for $120 and even $85, however, I trust this lady and I'll pay more to know I have someone I can trust in my home!
