I will relocate to the DC metro area later this year and would like to rent a 1-bedroom apartment in Crystal City, ideally within a 5-minute walk of the Metrorail station, and with garage/covered parking available in the apartment community. I can afford to pay around $2000 per month.

Any recommendations would be appreciated, especially of apartment communities that I should avoid.

Hey CD11,

I would check out this website: Apartments | Crystal City | Area Directory | Live

There are several apartment complexes within your range...of course, these are only apartments listed through the Crystal City organization, so the prices may be high.

Good luck!

Sounds like Crystal Plaza Apartments would fit what your looking for with garage parking and metro convenience. The have an underground metro station and shopping center right below your apartment. And the rent for a one bedroom base runs about $1700.

I lived there for about four years and liked it.

When I was apartment searching last week, I was at the 'Eclipse.' Very nice complex, with great surrounding stores.

Thank you all for your recommendations. I will review these online and check them out in person when I visit in October.

Just throwing in my two cents -- if it's not imperative to be on top of the Metro, check out Camden Potomac Yard. It's near Crystal City (about two blocks) but significantly less and pretty new. They also offer a subsidy for your transit, which is nice.

I lived in Crystal Towers on and off for a decade and loved it. Great staff and amenities in this building. It's also across the street from the Metro.

Lived in the Crystal Houses 2000 S. Eads st., thought is was great. It was built back when they knew how to soundproof a building. It has a pool and is 2 minutes walk to the metro. They do have a garage, I think you pay extra for it.
